About This Project

KAISER WOODLAND HILLS MEDICAL CENTER
INTERVENTIONAL RADIOLOGY
Woodland Hills, California

An existing film storage space is converted into a Interventional Radiology suite complete with supporting spaces and an allocation for a future IR room. Located under a congested intersection of main utility branches with restricted interstitial space, the design team developed an innovative secondary structural support system to accommodate the infrastructure demands of an IR suite. Despite the marginal 12 inch ceiling space, with the usage of BIM technology and effective coordination, the construction of the department was completed with minimal conflicts. The resulting suite accommodates all of the functions of current imaging technologies and yet provides a calmative environment for patients.
